Laser Gum Treatment

Since 1979, there has been a revolution in replacing teeth by using Dental Implants. The days where patients have floppy dentures, and partials that damage adjacent teeth are over. Dental Implants are predictable and viable options for replacing teeth or stabilizing dentures or partials when placed by experienced periodontists like Noraian.

While there are many practitioners placing implants today, very few, like Noraian, have ways to save or repair around dental implants to help increase their longevity as we are seeing more and more complications with dental implants. 

This condition is known as “Peri-Implantitis.” As a periodontist, Noraian is checking below the gum-line around implants as well as teeth. Whether Noraian has placed the implant or not, many times a simple gum examination will identify an infected implant below the gum which leads to bone loss around the implant or complete loss of the implant. Complications may arise from medications or medical conditions or even aging.

For years as a periodontist, Noraian has been involved with saving implants using bone grafting techniques which allowed for grafting around implants much the same way he grafted around teeth. So Noraian was able to save implants similar to how he saved teeth. In 2008, Dr. Noraian added the  PerioLase MVP-7 Nd:YAG laser to his armamentarium to fight gum disease with the Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP), and just like he did with bone grafting, he was able to use the laser to help regrow bone around ailing or failing implants with the Laser Assisted Peri-Implantitis Procedure (LAPIP). 

With the advent of LAPIP, which is a specific laser surgery procedure (does not involve a scalpel or stitches), Noraian is able to treat the infections and arrest the disease, and in some cases regenerate new bone around the implant itself! Noraian‘s involvement with LAPIP has gotten him involved with several peer-reviewed articles and speaking engagements to share his success with LAPIP.
